Allocating Roles

Within my group we had to decide who had which job. At the start I had a job of being an actor, but since I have switched roles to a cameraman because I feel I'm not that good of an actor.

The director of our film has been allocated to Calum Crumett.
Cameron Fairburn will take up the role of being the editor.
Finally Kyle Bennett will be the star of the film.

Research into task.

We started to reseach examples of opening sequences of films from websites and blogs. We did this so we had an idea of what types of film openings to produce. The link below shows some "unforgettable movies title sequences"

There are different types of openings from an animation opening sequence from the film "Catch me if you can" to a virtually pleasing "life of a bullet sequence from the film "Lord of War.

For our film sequence, the genre we considered are; horror, thriller and action.
We used the website Art of the title to find more opening sequence, this gave us more ideas towards our film opening.

Preliminary Exercise- Continuity editing

We started to create an opening sequence of our new film as a group. We practiced different camera angles/shots and filmed somebody walking down the hall opening a door, sitting down and speaking to somebody sat across from them. We did this using different angles (e.g. over the shoulder shot). This clip lasted around 16 seconds. It needed a lot of editing for it to look more professional and watchable.

I have posted our 16 second clip below. I would like to apologize for my poor acting skills. The cameraman just shoved the camera in front of my face and pressed record. So it caught me off guard as the video shows. :(

The Brief

For my media studies coursework, i have been asked to produce a 2 minute opening and credits of a new film. I have set up this blog to post updates on what I have been doing around the creation of this film. I will post videos, photos and other things relating to the coursework.
